EcoGypsum Featured in The Age
At the beginning of this year, we were fortunate to be featured in one of a series of articles published in The Age, ‘It’s beautiful, but we’d like fresh air: Life inside Melbourne’s most polluted suburb,’ written by Sophie Aubrey.
It’s a tricky one to be happy about. Although it sounds great to be featured in a well-written article, it highlights how the increased population in Western suburbs, like Brooklyn, continues to experience significant pollution concerns, affecting the health and well-being of young families and long-term residents. Brooklyn has very poor air quality due to industrial activity and unsealed roads. These cause above-average dust pollution and heavy traffic, such as on the nearby West Gate freeway.
EcoGysums, City Circle, Resource Co., and Delta Recycling crush and recycle half of Victoria’s construction waste materials. This is our way of helping the environment, yet it juxtaposes the needs of local dwellers.
We continue to work with local businesses, the EPA, and the Brooklyn Community Representative Group to find ecological solutions where industry and residential zones can live together with minimal impact to people and the planet.
